Island 2: Forest

The Forest (also called the Swamp) sits northwest of the Lighthouse and mixes a lake, grassland and shops. Its main NPC is the lady by the lake, who runs the leech quest that gates the whole island: collect 3 leeches from the ground, defeat the Giant Piranha, and hand the skeleton back for the Island 3 coordinates.

Nine regular creatures live here across two rod-and-bait combos: most of the roster (Gar, Mackerel, Pike, Goldfish, Cod, Goby, Perch, Triggerfish) takes the standard Fishing Rod with a Free or Beginner Lure, while the Piranha is the island's one exception — it demands a Sausage on the Crab Fishing Rod.

The local store is the place to upgrade: the Shotgun (about $150, one of the strongest early-to-mid weapons), an upgraded Fishing Rod and Beginner Lures cover both the regular fishing and the island's bosses.

The jump bite hurts a lot and the piranha school drains the white patience bar — bring real healing. The small piranhas double as low-health interim healing food, so clear just enough of them to lock onto the boss.

Find the lady by the lake to activate the 3/3 leech quest. The leeches (water insects) are not fished — they are picked up from the ground in the grassland, on paths and near NPCs; exactly 3 are needed. Handing all three over returns the Modified Leech, the only bait the Giant Piranha recognizes. Kill the boss, pick the skeleton up immediately (seagulls can steal it) and return it to the lady for the next coordinates.

💡 An ordinary store-bought lure cannot summon the Giant Piranha — only the Modified Leech from the quest works.
