Angelfish - How to Catch & Location
Where to Find Angelfish
The latest AllThings. How data (Patch 1.0.9, updated 2026-08-26) marks the Angelfish best island as the Volcano (Island 5). Note that regular creatures are not strictly locked to a single island — the "best island" is the recommended high-probability area, and the correct lure plus rod is what actually decides the catch pool.
How to Catch Angelfish
Use a Standard Lure with the regular Fishing Rod. Do not reach for a Scientific Lure: even though the Angelfish is listed around the Volcano island, the newest lure table places it in the Standard Lure pool.
💡 The Angelfish is the only Standard Lure regular documented on Island 5, so a cheap Standard Lure covers it while you fish the Volcano area.
Data Conflict: Which Island Lists the Angelfish?
Early guides often placed the Angelfish in the Island 3 (Desert) regular list, while the newest 2026-08-26 guide lists lure = Standard Lure and best island = Volcano (Island 5). This site stores lure and best island as separate fields and follows the newest source for the recommendation — if you cannot find it near the Volcano, try the Desert with the same Standard Lure.
The Drip Variant
The Angelfish has a rare Drip variant like every creature in the game — rainbow name text instead of white, caught with the exact same Standard Lure and Fishing Rod from the same waters. The hunt has a convenient shape on Island 5: every other Volcano regular needs a Scientific Lure, so a stack of cheap Standard Lures dedicated to the Angelfish (common and Drip alike) barely dents your bait budget. Community reports put the Drip chance for regular creatures around 10% (unofficial). Remember the two counting rules: the Drip creature must be killed to count, and Drip entries fill the Fishipedia achievement while the common version fills Collector.
